Scream:
In the opening scene there is a very simple urban setting in a house with a living room and a kitchen. However the biggest prop that makes the biggest impact is the big glass door which exposes the whole living room to whom ever may be outside on the patio. When the person over the phone purposely makes a Freudian slip and says " how will i know who im looking at?" this causes the audience to believe that there is someone on the patio looking at the woman and this starts off the more violent calls. Also the knives at the table that the woman fiddles with suggests that there is some sort of violence to come. One of the first shots of the house is very important because it sets the scene for the whole film. In scream its the wide angle shot that shows the old broken down sing set that is swinging slightly however nobody is sitting on it.
Costume hair and makeup are very simple and standard in the opening first five minutes and just show a normal urban setting.
lighting and color are used to make a very dull urban setting. There are mostly low lights and the hall way is dark. The patio is dark until the woman in the scene turns it on to see if the person calling her is there.
camera angles are used very well because they show they show the house with a wide shot at the beginning setting the scene for the opening of the movie. The sound used is also very effective because its very light background music in the beginning however when the person on the phone supposedly the killer gets more aggressive with his words the music accelerates and becomes louder and more fast paced this creates tension.
